Lighting Design

Lighting design is by far the most creative and challenging discipline in the field of lighting. That's because lighting design involves your imagination, your fantasy and your ability, not only to visualize the final result for yourself, but also to be able to describe the ideas you have in your head, and share them with others.

In order to do so you may choose to use mock-ups, sketches, computer visualizations or pictures. In the early idea phase I recommend using nature as a common reference to describe the nature of the light that you recommend.

Once you have got the idea, the feeling of the light, then you choose the light source, and the fixture, and then you move on to positioning the fixtures accordingly, in respect of the architecture.

Lighting design takes a lot of practice, and this e-learning section only gives you inspiration and some basic tools in order to get you started.

Please feel free to contact FLA at any time in order to discuss lighting design.
